1 Beyond DDRs to Record Antares Rocket Launch From Wallops Island

September 17, 2013-Wallops Island, VA- 1 Beyond is proud to be a part of the historic NASA Launch taking place on Wednesday. The Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport (MARS), where the Launch will take place, is equipped with 44 DDR systems, two LTO tape libraries and NAS storage, all supplied by 1 Beyond. These systems are being used to record the launch from 40 different camera angles in High Definition, with real-time playback during the record. This visual monitoring allows mission control to review for any anomalies during pre-launch and are capable of recording the entire 36-hour count-down sequence prior to launch.

The launch of the Antares rocket and Cygnus spacecraft on a demonstration mission to the International Space Station is now scheduled for Wednesday, Sept 18 between 10:50am to 11:05 am EDT. Orbital Sciences, The designer of the Antares Rocket, is one of two commercial companies selected to perform re-supply missions to the International Space station.  This launch will mark a huge achievement for Orbital Sciences in fulfilling their 1.9 Billion re-supply contract to the I.S.S., which is scheduled to take place over 8 separate missions well into 2016.
