About the LTO Mac Axle

system takes Axle, a radically simple Medial Asset Management application and combines it with a Database and LTO archive tape drive in a compact self-contained rugged portable
system. It’s a collaboration server with an internal 4TB database and an LTO-6 tape drive for data Archive. Running Axle software, it shows a web-browsable version of your folders and files to anyone you grant a username and password to. Each user can be set up to have a different “view” of your local file system, and these can be kept private from each other. For the first time, the 1 Beyond LTOMac-axle allows cost effective, in the field, Cataloging of Video, Archive and Proxy Generation for immediate access to review, comment and approve from anywhere worldwide. All access to the 1 Beyond LTOMac-axle is via standard web browsers; there is no client software to install on client computer systems or mobile devices, apart from an optional Java-based upload module that we provide to ensure reliable uploads of large files, even when network connections are less than perfect. Everything else – from iPad access, to modern browsers such as Chrome, IE9 and Safari – is via standard browsers, including the administrative interface. Assets can be stored on one or more Catalogs, which are top level asset stores (storage volumes or top level directories).
